 Mükaşefetü'l-Kulûb is a mystical work in terms of its subject. In terms of content, it is a work that aims to lead hearts to a sensitive Islamic life and to squeeze a pure Islamic life there. Mükaşefetü'l-Kulûb is a book of "Hearts Revival". It is a work that teaches to work on improvement by detecting and discovering their situations, by revealing them. Sufism is a science that deals with the heart. It is known that, just as the heart is, the outer members and life present a view suitable for it. Allah's; In accordance with the meaning of the hadith that "every slave checks his heart several times a day", the heart, which is the place of manifestation of deeds in Sufism, has been taken into consideration. This is a way of life that every Islamic scholar, every devotee and devotee of Allah, lives at the beginning or at the end. The heart that Allah Almighty visits every day is undoubtedly worthy of being clean. Because it is the rule of good manners for a servant (like the master of a slave) to his Lord. A servant who does not have good manners has no honor in the presence of his Lord. However, the goal for a slave is to gain the favor of his master. The happiness and peace of the servant also depend on it. In this respect, the heart, the discovery of hearts and knowing the states (Mukâşefetü'l-Kulûb) are very important.

Mükâşefetü’l-Kulûb konu itibariyle tasavvufî bir eserdir. İçerik itibariyle kalpleri hassas bir İslâmi hayata sevk etmeyi, oraya saf bir İslâmî hayatı sıkıştırmayı hedef edinen bir eserdir. Mükâşefetü’l-Kulûb bir “Kalpleri İhyâ” kitabıdır. Durumlarını tespit ve keşfedip aralayarak, ortaya çıkararak ıslaha çalışmayı öğreten bir eserdir. Tasavvuf kalp ile meşgul olan bir ilimdir. Malûmdur ki, kalp nasıl olursa dış âzâ ve yaşayış da ona uygun bir manzara arz eder. Allah Teâlâ’nın; “Her kulun kalbini günde birkaç kere kontrol ettiği” hadisinin mânâsına itibarla tasavvufta amellerin zuhur mahalli olan kalp ele alınmıştır. Bu her İslâm âliminin, Hakka ubûdiyyete kendini adamış her âbid ve zahidin başta ya da sonda yaşadıkları bir hayat tarzıdır. Cenâb-ı Hakk’ın her gün ziyaret ettiği kalp hiç şüphesiz ki temiz olmaya lâyıktır. Çünkü bir kulun, Rabbine karşı (kölenin efendisine misali) edep kaidesidir. Edebi olmayan bir kulun Rabbi yanında itibarı olmaz. Hâlbuki bir köle için gaye, efendisinin teveccühünü kazanmasıdır. Kulun saadet ve huzuru da buna bağlıdır. Bu bakımdan kalp, kalplerin keşfi ve hâllerin bilinmesi (Mükâşefetü’l-Kulûb) gayet mühimdir.
